Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland, with Maria Power

This talk will outline the issues facing Northern Ireland in the search for peace and reconciliation, it will present an historical overview of past efforts to secure a positive peace and conclude with some reflections regarding the future of peace building in Northern Ireland.

Dr Maria Power is a lecturer in religion and peace building at the Institute of Irish Studies, University of Liverpool. She has published widely on the subject of peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland including From Ecumenism to Community Relations: Inter-Church Relationships in Northern Ireland 1980-2005, (Dublin, 2006) and Building Peace in Northern Ireland, (Liverpool, 2011). She is currently completing a monograph on the Catholic Church and the Conflict in Northern Ireland. In association with Nottingham Irish Studies Group.
